Old Fort Boise Replica in Parma
The other day we had to make a trip to Nyssa for Jordan's football game. On the was back he asked if we'd stop & check out the Old Fort Boise. The boys & I got out & checked everything out. The statue of the female Indian is Marie Dorion, an Iowa Indian who came through Idaho in 1811 with the Price Hunt Fur Trappers. She & her 2 children were the sole survivors of a Bannock Indian clash at John Reids Fur Trade post 6 mi. west of Fort Boise. Jordan couldn't get too close to the statue of the male Indian because there was a huge wasp nest in his mouth....weird! Anyway, Fort Boise was set up as a trading post in 1834, until Indians forced them to abandon it in 1855. How's that for some Idaho History...!!!
