Sunday started out as any other day...we left to go see Megan in the hospital. Had a great day...lunch with family, a nice nap, then came home to Sammy having some big problems. She couldn't hold her head up, couldn't use her back legs...at first we thought she might have gotten hit, but there were no signs of trauma. She just cried & curled up in Haley's lap. The boys & Haley immediately started crying & holding her, not sure what was wrong or what to do, we called Gramma Sandi. She came over more to be a shoulder to cry on for the kids. We put her in a box & put her in the garage for the night, until we could call the vet in the morning.
Jordan checked on her many times before bedtime. Monday morning she wasn't any better, in fact, she was worse...barely making any sounds. I called our usual vet & of course they couldn't see her until Tuesday at 5:30pm. Give me a break...it was an emergency! Anyway, I ended up taking her back to the vet who had saved her when she had taken a ride in the under carraige of my van a few years before...they said they could put her in the hospital, but they might not be able to save her even with all the tests they could run... Knowing that could run into a lot of $, we decided to put her down.
It was kind of a lot of money to pay to put her down, but she deserved a gentle exit from our world...not a harsh bullet. Dylan cried & cried so loud in the garage as he looked at her food dish that night, it totally broke my heart. It still brings me to tears. We try so hard to keep sadness from our kids, yet one darn pet can bring them so many tears. Jordan was quite the big man, helping his Daddy dig a hole for Sammy & they placed her where they could always know where she was...that darn cat had become such a loving, affectionate cat lately that I still look for her when I open the garage door. She had the biggest blue eyes & best purr ever!
We love our kitty & miss her a lot!
